Retro Man

This painting was inspired by Rockwell and Leyendecker’s work and their use of shape design. I took that approach by using a squared brush to enhance the facial structure and simplify the shapes on the hat to create implied folds. Since men tend to have predominent edges within their facial structure, the squared brush really helped compliment the side profile shapes, especially the nose and chin.
