Using a stiffer bristle brush and as few strokes as possible, I would quickly “flick” and drag to get the soft edges of the hair. Standing far away, it looks realistic, but up close, you can see the brush strokes and intentional texture decisions that were made. This accomplished the goal of merging hyperrealism and impressionism within the painting.
